First Call For Help, an agency of the United Way, receives all applications for Cheer Fund recipients. Below is a list of the criteria used to see if someone qualifies for assistance:

143% of poverty (2005 Health & Human Services Poverty Guidelines)
Children 15 years old and younger
Any child mentally handicapped

Food basket requirements
Social Security disability
Family with 5+ children
Elderly 65+
Couples with 1 or more disabled

Smoke detector
Based upon need
